“Louise” was referred to me as the school were worried about her social skills and self-esteem. I have been working with her for the last 6 months through a range of activities and conversations around building her confidence. She previously said felt she had no friends, did not fit in and was worthless.
During our last session she was full of excitement and said that she was trying really hard to make friends. She said ‘hello’ to someone in her class that walked past as we were talking which is a huge development for her. We then did an activity where I was able to describe her as determined, fun and friendly. She smiled and said nobody had ever described her as determined and fun but liked it and agreed with those words.”
